I talk a lot about our dog, so I figured I’d give you a formal introduction!
We rescued Mowgli in 2014 at 7 weeks old. The whole litter was up for adoption because they lost their mom at 3 days old. I was out shopping with Bobby’s sisters when they convinced me to go look at the puppies. Bobby and I knew we wanted a dog, but wasn’t seriously looking. When I saw Mowgli (was named “Coal” by the rescue agency), I couldn’t resist. The adoption agency said no one had put in an application for him, so as I started filling out the application I called Bobby. I said “I’m filling out an adoption application…I think I found our dog”.
We were (and still are) thankful to the foster family. At 7 weeks, Mowgli never had an accident and never chewed on anything. Bobby and I believe that the foster family had a lot to do with his demeanor, so we are eternally grateful.
We know Mowgli’s mom was a black lab. The vet thinks he could be mixed with a border collie or pointer. He’s about 50-55lbs now, so he’s small for a male lab. Definitely mixed with a smaller breed.
When we adopted Mowgli, we found out that another couple nearby adopted his sister. The adoption agency introduced us, and we decided to get the pups together for a playdate. It was really neat to see their similar characteristics — both personality and physically.
Before we got a dog, we talked about taking him with us everywhere. Whether thats hiking, vacations, Home Depot, or Starbucks…our dog comes with us.
I know a lot of people say they have the best dog. But you know you have THE best dog when everyone tells you he’s the best. He’s well behaved, he’s not needy, he’s active and playful when you want to be, and relaxed when you are. He’s love-y and sweet, but doesn’t lick.
He really is the best!
