I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years! After spending Christmas in Virginia, Bobby and I were happy to be home for New Years. We needed some downtime to regroup before heading back to work. Does anyone else crave structure after the holidays?
It’s been pretty cold in Raleigh, but the high on Saturday was in the low 50’s so we decided to get outside and play some disc golf. Our friends Matt and Erin joined us (and Mowgli) at a course in Chapel Hill. We played 9 holes in 2 hours and decided to call it. It was pretty cold and …let’s be honest…none of us were playing well.
Saturday night we visited the Chinese Lantern Festival in Cary. If any of you live in the Raleigh area, make sure you check it out before it closes on January 14th. It was one of the coolest things we’ve done since we moved here. There were 25 displays and over 15,000 lights. The lanterns are created by hand on silk fabric stretched over steel frames. Some of the displays are made exclusively for this event and are sent from China. Check out the photos below and let me know your favorite.
On New Year’s Eve, Bobby and I spent the day catching up on chores. I was able to put most of the Christmas decor away (YAY) and set up my calendars for the year (double YAY). Am I the only one who gets excited about cleaning and organizing? (that’s a rhetorical question)
We were planning to go downtown Raleigh for the Acorn Drop — that’s right, Raleigh does an Acorn Drop — but the temperature dropped and we didn’t want to deal with the crowds. We opted to stay in, play board games and watch the ball drop on TV.
I hope you had a great New Years Eve! Cheers to 2018!
