For my birthday, my brother and his family gifted me a week of HelloFresh. What a great gift idea! Here are the meals we received:
- Chicken Parm Salad
- Chicken Pineapple Quesadillas
- Figgy Balsamic Pork
Because it was a gift, we didn’t have the option to choose our meals. I only had the option to select “No Beef”. I must say, I was really excited about the recipes we received.
Unfortunately, Bobby cooked the Chicken Parm Salad so I don’t have any photos but it was really good!
The Chicken Pineapple Quesadillas were next. Bobby isn’t a fan of pineapple, but the amount of pineapple provided was so small that it wasn’t overpowering. I love pineapple and wished there was more.
Oh! And the pico de gallo was amazing! I don’t think I’ll ever buy salsa again!!
Ok, on to the Figgy Balsamic Pork. To be honest, neither of us were enthusiastic about the “figgy” part…but this recipe was the BEST of the bunch! The sauce was more balsamic-y with a hint of fig, and paired great with the pork. The green beans and potatoes were roasted perfectly. It was so good!
We don’t eat a lot of red meat, but this is something we’ll definitely cook again!
I recently tried Blue Apron and loved it! You can read about our experience here.
If I had to choose between HelloFresh and Blue Apron, I’d probably pick HelloFresh. The recipes were more our “style”. Blue Apron had more ethnic influence, which was great, but for every winner, we’d have a few ok recipes and a dud. With HelloFresh, we liked everything they sent.
Have you tried HelloFresh? Or Blue Apron? Which do you prefer?
