Last weekend Bobby and I traveled to Virginia to celebrate my Grandma’s 90th birthday. It was the first time that my entire extended family has been together in over 10 years! My dad is one of 6 kids: 3 brothers and 3 sisters. There are over 30 cousins including 3 great-great-grandkids. So, you can imagine the amount of family in one room!

Nearly 150 people were there to celebrate my Grandma. She volunteered at the Vienna Fire Department for over 40 years and was very active in the local community. She always hosted dinners for my dad and his friends. Her home was the place to hangout in Vienna.

I was able to catch up with some relatives that live on the west coast. I got to catch up with my twin cousins who live in California. Last time I saw them they were just babies! I was pleasantly surprised by their interests. One of them is a very talented artist who is REALLY into Hamilton. The other is a talented guitarist.
I also got to chat with my cousins from Seattle. We are about the same age and use to see each other every summer, however we haven’t seen them in 10 years. They are both newly married, so I got to meet their spouses. Bobby has never been to Seattle, so I think we need to plan a trip!
I managed to make it around the room and catch up with all of my family members. I even got to meet some of my dad’s extended family, like his cousin who lives in London!

My Grandma was overjoyed with the event. After the party, we went to my aunt’s house to continue catching up with relatives. I’m so glad Bobby and I dedicated our weekend to seeing everyone. As we get older, it’s harder to keep in touch with everyone — specially 30+ cousins!!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
